Belayneh Abejie, M.D.
Internal & Occupational Medicine

Dr. Abejie has joined University Central Medical Specialty Center. He recently graduated from Harvard University in Occupational and Environmental Medicine where he served as Chief Resident for the program. He earned his MPH degree in Epidemiology from Tulane University School of Public Health, New Orleans. He completed extensive residency training in Internal Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Abejie started his medical training in his homeland and received his Medical Degree from Addis Ababa University Gondar College of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Abejie is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, with more than 17 years experience in public health. He has special interest and training in Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

When Dr. Abejie isn’t practicing medicine you might find him writing poetry and essays in his native language.

 

 

 

 

Deniz Baysal, M.D.
Department of Orthopedics
Dr. Baysal graduated from the University of Calgary in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He went on to complete a Medical Degree in 1998 and his Orthopedic Residency in 2003, from the University of Alberta, in Edmonton Canada. From there he attended UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas and completed a fellowship in complex fractures and pelvis/acetabular trauma at Parkland Hospital. He also learned about minimally invasive and percutaneous pelvic fixation. Upon completion of his training, he accepted a position as a trauma consultant at Altoona regional trauma center in Pennsylvania, from 2004-2007. Dr. Baysal now joins the Department of Orthopedics at UCSF Fresno with special interests in Fracture care, complex Pelvis/Acetabular injuries, non-unions and mal-unions, as well as primary hip and knee replacements. Jayanta Choudhury, M.D.
Department of Gastroenterology  

Dr. Jayanta Choudhury graduated from the National Medical College in Calcutta India. Followed by postgraduate residency in Internal Medicine at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research in Chandigarh, India. He graduated at the top of his class and moved to London in the United Kingdom to obtain further training. In the United Kingdom, he became certified in Internal Medicine and received membership to the Royal College of Physicians London, United Kingdom (MRCP). Subsequently, he moved to the United States and did a residency in Internal Medicine from Guthrie Clinic-Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania. Dr. Choudhury then began a fellowship in Gastroenterology/Hepatology and Nutrition at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Along with extensive experience in the routine gastroenterological procedures, he received additional training in advanced endoscopic procedures, such as, Endoscopic Ultrasound, ERCPs and enteral stent placement. In addition, Dr. Choudhury did fully funded research in Insulin Resistance and Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease under the aegis National Institute of Health (NIH).

Dr. Choudhury’s academic interest includes advanced GI therapeutic procedures including EUS/EUS FNAs, management of GI tract neoplasms and pancreato-biliary endoscopy.

Michael J. Ebaugh, M.D., Ph.D.
Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology

 

Dr. Ebaugh received his fellowship training from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology December 2003 and is board certified. His residency training took place at UTSW, Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Ebaugh has received the James W. McLaughlin Predoctoral Fellowship Award and the NIH Summer Research Award. He comes with a great deal of professional and teaching experience, which makes him a great addition to the team. During his leisure time Dr. Ebaugh enjoys spending time with his four children, skiing, hunting and software development.

 
Babak Eghbalieh, M.D.
Department of Surgery
Dr. Babak Eghbalieh graduated from the University of California-Irvine with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. He completed his medical training at Sackler School of Medicine and did his surgical internship at SUNY-Downstate in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Eghbalieh completed his surgical residency at University of California San Francisco – Fresno. His interests include general surgery with emphasis on minimally invasive surgery, surgical oncology, thoracic surgery, teaching and clinical research. . He joins CCFMG as a fulltime faculty in the Department of Surgery.

 

Rajan Gaur, M.D.
Department of Internal Medicine
Rajan Gaur, M.D. received his fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine from Rush University Medical Center, Chicago Illinois. His residency training in Internal Medicine was completed at Queens Hospital Center, New York. He also has training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

 

 

 
Daniel Miller, M.D.
Department of Neurosurgery
 
Dr. Miller has joined University Neurosurgery Associates. His Neurosurgery residency was completed at the Medical College of Virginia, in Richmond, Virginia. During his residency, he also completed six months of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the National Hospital for Nervous Disorders at Queen’s Square in London, England.

He then received Neurosurgical Cerebrovascular Fellowship training from the University of Western Ontario. He subsequently obtained Neurosurgical Oncology Fellowship training from the University of Texas at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Miller is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. He was an Associate Professor and Chief of Neurosurgery at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas. He has a special interest in Microsurgery involving Cranial Vascular, Tumor, and Skull Base Pathology, as well as Complex Spine Surgery.

He has come from El Paso, Texas to join University Neurosurgery Associates here in Fresno. During his leisure hours his outside interests include: golf, chess, sailing, fishing, and scuba diving. He received a graduate degree in Underwater Archaeology from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.

In addition to seeing private patients at University Neurosurgery Associates, he will be teaching at UCSF Fresno in the residency training program. Dr. Miller has privileges at Community Medical Centers.

Soe Naing, M.D., MRCP

Department of Internal Medicine

 

Dr. Naing has joined University Central Medical Specialty Center. He received postgraduate medical training in the UK and the US. In the US he completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and fellowship training in Endocrinology at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He worked as an Endocrinologist and Director of Centegra Diabetes Center at Chicago after completing his fellowship.

Dr Naing is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and Internal Medicine. He is a member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians, American Medical Association, Ameican Diabetes Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society.

He, his lovely wife and their two children have moved to Fresno from Chicago. In his leisure time he enjoys watching movies and catching a soccer game on the television.

Dr. Naing will be practicing General Endocrinology and Diabetes at the University Central Medical Specialty Center, a University Center of Excellence office, teaching at UCSF Fresno in the residency program and seeing patients at the UMC Clinic. He is the Medical Director of Community Diabetes Care Center at Sierra and has privileges at Community Medical Centers.

 
 


Mary Wolfe,M.D.
Department of Surgery

Dr. Wolfe graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in 1992. After obtaining her degree, she spent several years in biomedical research. She attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine and received a Medical Degree in 2001. Dr. Wolfe completed her general surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. From there, she attended University of California San Francisco-Fresno and completed a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care. She is certified in General surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and now joins CCFMG and the UCSF-Fresno Department of Surgery with special interest in trauma/critical care, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology and surgical education.

 

 


Serena Yang,M.D.
Department of Pediatrics

Dr. Serena Yang graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Certificate in Bioengineering. She received her M.D. degree from Emory University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatrics residency and academic general pediatrics fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. During her fellowship, she obtained an M.P.H. in international and family health at the University of Texas-Houston School of Public Health. As a faculty member at Baylor College of Medicine from 2004-07, she was the recipient of an NIH K12 Mentored Clinical Investigator Award, which funded her clinical research training and projects investigating access to care barriers for vulnerable pediatric populations. She now joins UCSF-Fresno as full-time faculty in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Yang’s academic interests include NICU hospital to home transition and follow up, access to care, care of the underserved, international health, medical education, and mentoring others in their research and career pursuits.
